Home Building Project in Crédin, Morbihan
The client asked Breton Build to turn a small workshop into a two bedroom gite.
Work Carried Out
Once starting the works, it became clear that the existing front of the workshop could not be saved as it was structurally unstable. Therefore, after consulting the owners we decided to demolish the front wall and rebuild the whole structure. The building was constructed using concrete blocks which were to clad with stone. The cut stone window and door sets were bought locally from a quarry. The roof is a typical French design using an A frame in the centre, with purlins supported on it and the outside gable walls. The roof was covered using natural slates.
Inside the house, all the walls and ceilings were insulated, plaster boarded and plastered. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with a family bathroom, the ground floor is open plan with a kitchen and dining area, a wood burning stove to heat the house.
Location: Crédin, Morbihan (56)
The project was completed in 16 weeks.
